On 11 May 2026, Alternativi International organized a dissemination event in Bansko, Bulgaria, bringing together 42 young people to explore innovative approaches to peacebuilding, dialogue, and youth participation through the Erasmus+ project “InnovatorsLab: Gen Z’s Game-Based Peacebuilding.”
The event introduced participants to the project's mission of making peacebuilding education more engaging, accessible, and relevant for Generation Z through the use of game-based learning methodologies and interactive educational tools.
During the session, young people had the opportunity to discover the main outcomes developed within the project, including:
– The InnovatorsLab E-learning Platform, featuring educational modules on peacebuilding, conflict transformation, communication, empathy, and game-based learning;
– The Empathy Cards, designed to encourage active listening, perspective-taking, reflection, and meaningful conversations among young people;
– The Educational Escape Room Methodology and Guidelines, providing innovative ways to learn about cooperation, trust, teamwork, and peaceful conflict resolution through experiential learning.
Beyond presenting the tools themselves, the event created a space for discussion about the challenges facing young people today. Participants reflected on topics such as misunderstandings, stereotypes, social divisions, online communication, and the importance of building stronger and more inclusive communities.
The interactive nature of the presentation encouraged active participation, with many young people sharing their own experiences and perspectives on communication, cooperation, and conflict. Particular interest was shown towards the game-based elements of the project, with participants highlighting how learning through challenges, storytelling, and teamwork feels more engaging and relevant than traditional educational approaches.
The event also served as an invitation for young people to continue their learning journey through the InnovatorsLab platform and become part of a wider community of young changemakers committed to promoting understanding, empathy, and dialogue.
By engaging directly with young people, the InnovatorsLab project continues to demonstrate how innovative educational tools can empower Generation Z with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to contribute to more peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies.
