On 9 May 2026, a group of young people from Belitsa, Bulgaria took part in an interactive educational escape room developed by Alternativi team within the Erasmus+ project “InnovatorsLab: Gen Z’s Game-Based Peacebuilding.”
Using game-based learning and collaborative challenges, the activity encouraged participants to work together, communicate effectively, and solve problems as a team. Throughout the experience, the young participants faced a series of tasks that required trust, cooperation, active listening, and creative thinking in order to progress through the game.
Far more than a traditional educational activity, the escape room created a dynamic learning environment where participants could experience first-hand the importance of teamwork and constructive communication. As challenges became more complex, young people learned to share ideas, support one another, and make collective decisions.
Following the activity, participants joined a reflection session where they discussed their experiences and connected the lessons learned during the game to real-life situations involving communication, conflict resolution, and cooperation.
The session demonstrated how interactive methodologies can make peacebuilding concepts more engaging and accessible for Generation Z, transforming learning into an active and memorable experience.
Through activities like this, InnovatorsLab continues to explore innovative ways of helping young people develop the skills needed to build stronger relationships, navigate differences, and contribute to more inclusive communities.
