How can we make peacebuilding more relevant and engaging for today's young people?
This was one of the key questions explored during a workshop held at the International Youth Center in Pernik on 20 of February 2026, where 23 educators and youth professionals came together to discover the resources developed through the Erasmus+ project “InnovatorsLab: Gen Z’s Game-Based Peacebuilding.”
The session focused on practical tools that can help educators create more interactive learning experiences and facilitate meaningful conversations around empathy, cooperation, communication, and conflict resolution.
Participants had the opportunity to explore the project's main outputs, including:
– The InnovatorsLab E-learning Platform;
– The Empathy Cards, designed to stimulate reflection and dialogue;
– The Educational Escape Room Guidelines, offering step-by-step support for implementing game-based learning activities;
– Innovative approaches for engaging Generation Z through experiential and non-formal education.
Beyond presenting the tools, the workshop created a space for discussion on the changing needs of young people and the role educators play in helping them navigate differences, build understanding, and develop the skills needed for peaceful coexistence.
The event highlighted the growing interest in creative educational approaches that move beyond traditional teaching methods and place young people at the centre of the learning experience.
