How can we make peacebuilding and conflict resolution more engaging for today's learners?
This question was at the heart of a workshop organized with 13 educators from Sofia, where participants had the opportunity to discover and test innovative educational resources developed through the Erasmus+ project “InnovatorsLab: Gen Z’s Game-Based Peacebuilding.”
During the session, teachers explored two of the project's key outputs currently being developed and tested:
– The Empathy Cards, designed to encourage reflection, perspective-taking, active listening, and meaningful dialogue;
– The project’s Educational Escape Rooms, which use game-based learning to develop communication, cooperation, teamwork, and conflict-resolution skills.
The workshop gave participants the opportunity not only to learn about the methodologies behind these tools but also to discuss how they could be applied in classrooms, youth activities, and non-formal learning environments.
The educators shared valuable feedback on the draft versions of the resources and exchanged ideas on how interactive learning approaches can help young people engage more deeply with topics such as empathy, inclusion, diversity, and peaceful conflict transformation.
Events like this play an important role in ensuring that the InnovatorsLab tools are practical, relevant, and adaptable to the realities faced by educators working with Generation Z today.
